How Did Matt Damon Fall For a Barmaid at First Sight?
According to the "Stillwater" star, he met Barroso when he was shooting the film "Stuck on You." The film was shot in Miami, where Damon and his co-stars chose to visit a bar one evening for drinks.
Barroso was a bartender in the bar and Damon saw her across a crowded room. Grateful for that day, Damon said:
"Eight years and four kids later, that's my life. I don't know how else our paths would've crossed if that didn't happen."

Barroso also gave her account of that day, saying Damon had started getting lots of attention in the bar due to his celebrity status. Many people wanted to take pictures with him and get autographs.
However, since it was a bar and some people were drunk, it got kind of aggressive, and Damon went to hide behind the bar where Barroso was serving drinks. Barroso revealed that she put the actor to work, and he started serving drinks too.
Barroso said she and her husband constantly talk about self-esteem and compassion to their kids, hoping that they will adopt these values.
Damon was lucky that he had trained as a bartender for a film years before and knew how to make drinks. So, he helped Barroso, and got tipped a lot as everyone wanted to go and see him. Barroso added:
"So it turned into a really fun night, and then 15 years later, here we are! We definitely had a connection right away, it was so easy to talk to each other, we were very comfortable, and by the end of the night, he invited me to go out with his friends."

When Barroso met Damon, she was a single mother of one daughter. The actor invited him to go out with his friends when her shift ended that night, but she said no because she had to take care of her daughter.
Barroso found it sweet that Damon understood that being a mom was her first priority and having a child didn't complicate things between her and Damon.
She also said the connection she felt for Damon had nothing to do with him being an actor. "All the other stuff— the movie-star part—wasn't really a factor. It was just Matt, to me, he's just Matt," she explained.

Barroso, who is now an interior designer, got engaged to Damon two years after they met. On July 4, 2003, the "Elysium" star introduced Barroso to his family and friends in Boston.
In December 2005, Damon's publicist, Jennifer Allen, revealed that Barroso and the actor tied the knot in a private ceremony in New York City. The exact location was undisclosed, and the wedding ceremony was small.
The "The Good Shepherd" actor and his wife now have four daughters together who they raise to be compassionate and feel empowered.

The actor also said he never expected to be surrounded by girls as he is the only man in the house. However, the experience has helped him learn more about them.
He said he now understands how much smarter girls are than guys and revealed that he is often outsmarted by his toddler, who was two years then:
"I operated under the assumption that us guys had a chance, but I realized when I was completely wrapped around my 2-year-old's finger and she knew it. If they can do that to us at 2 years old, when they're fully grown, we really don't stand a chance."

Damon also noted that he was at first scared of having kids due to the bodily fluids he would have to deal with. However, when he became a father, changing diapers became easy and it was no longer a big deal.
Barroso said she and her husband constantly talk about self-esteem and compassion to their kids, hoping they will adopt these values and use them in making decisions in the future. She added:
"So I just hope that they know how to respect themselves and respect others and to not hold back and do what they want to do, but always have in mind the affect on another human being."

The interior designer also said they raise their daughters to believe in their ability to do anything and everything they want to achieve. She wants her girls not to let anything stand in their way but to also never go for something at the cost of somebody else.
Barroso has praised Damon's parenting and noted that the actor was "such as good dad." Damon also revealed why he and his wife have managed to stay out of the limelight. He said the media is mostly interested in sex and scandal, and since he has none, they steer away from him. "I'm still married, still working, still happy," he added.
