WA: Man charged over alleged attack in Merredin

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a man was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries following an incident in central Western Australia.

Police were called to a home at Merredin, in WA’s central Wheatbelt region, about 9.10pm on Friday evening responding to reports of an assault.

Officers found a 49-year-old man unresponsive with serious head injuries.

He was taken to Merredin Hospital by ambulance in a critical condition before being flown to Royal Perth Hospital.

A 46-year-old man was arrested at a Merredin home about 2.15am Saturday.

He was due to face a Perth court on Sunday having been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

Merredin is about 260km east of Perth, about halfway between the WA capital and the mining town of Kalgoorlie.
